Ask a Question Day, #IWantToAsk are you ready to seek and spread knowledge?

Too many of us can relate to these scenarios: being in a classroom full of students and feeling completely lost, being in a meeting and not understanding what the next steps are, sitting in a seminar and assuming that everyone else knows the subject matter. All these situations have something in common: as people sometimes we cannot muster the courage to speak out, and not asking for the information we care about the most. The importance of asking goes beyond stating a simple question. It’s the easiest way to get what you want, and it is the universal facilitator of knowledge exchange. You wouldn’t take a job without asking about benefits and salary right? If you’re unsure of what exactly the task you have been assigned is, ask. Ask experts in the field, ask your coworkers, ask the Internet! Asking is the first step towards obtaining information. Once you bring up the question, then you have started a conversation and it is highly likely that you will learn a lot more than what you initially asked. Encourage your children to do the same. Asking requires self confidence, teach your kids to be self-assured, nurture their curiosity, and raise them to believe in the power of a question. From asking their teacher to clear up the role of chloroplasts in photosynthesis to asking their boss for a raise a decade later, being comfortable asking questions will open countless doors. It also means that your decisions are based on information. When it comes to the decision making process, questions are at the top of the list. It is important to know the outcomes, ramifications, and possibilities when considering life altering decisions, or even when making smaller every-day calls. This way you will be certain that you are employing critical thinking and making judgment calls according to your moral code, and that you are picking what is most beneficial to your situation. So, continue on asking about everything and anything that sparks your curiosity and honor March 14th by putting your questions out there on social media; spread the word and make your community a platform for exchanging knowledge and life experiences. #IWantToAsk will you keep on asking questions, and encouraging others around you to do the same, even after March 14th?...
