Getting Career Ready for Fall
Summer is almost over, which means everyone is coming back from vacation and jobs are waiting to be filled. So, it’s time to start preparing for all the academic and labor opportunities that the Fall has to offer. With the remainder free time, this is the perfect opportunity to start applying for internships, enrolling in different programs, and exploring all the different career paths that Boston makes readily available to the student population.
Massachusetts General Hospital: If you’re interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields, there are a few hospitals in Boston that offer a variety of programs where students can work or volunteer. Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Community Health Improvement has the MGH Youth Scholars Program which is perfect for high school students that want career exploration in health related fields, research and college readiness.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital: This institution has a variety of programs that are geared towards different types of students at different levels, on a part-time basis during the school year. Whether it be a job as a research assistant, an internship at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, or medical career exploration there is a wide selection from which to choose. The City of Boston: Do you see yourself working in government? If you do, working with the city might be a great option. There are different offices that you can apply to, like the Office of Fair Housing and Equity, the Department of Innovation and Technology, Law Department, among a few others.
