Home Depot Helps Remodel IBA's Afterschool Space

IBA Staff and volunteers from Home Depot at South Bay Station decided to spend a full day improving the space for our afterschool program located at the Blackstone School. They set out to create a more enjoyable and exciting atmosphere for IBA’s first and second graders. Their goal was to brighten and clean it, add some color, and make it ready for the students to create their own original mural this semester. "Before: A room that was overcrowded, a little dull, and some of the paint was chipping." image002 image004 image006 "Before: The space assigned for the students to paint their mural was only a concrete wall." image010 Then… IBA Staff, Home Depot volunteers, and volunteers from the community worked to repaint and build the room. image035 JON Now: A spacious, bright, and beautiful after school classroom! image036 image037 The Home Depot volunteers went above and beyond the initial goal. They not only cleaned up the space, but they added personal touches such as a “book nook” under the staircase and a custom-made chalkboard. Their work is a testament of effort and caring, surpassing every expectation. Now the space is more than ready for the students to come learn and spend valuable afterschool time in a comfortable environment.
