Lizbeth Román LIVE from Puerto Rico on March 31st!

In the United States, March is the month to celebrate women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. IBA will contribute to this celebration by showcasing the work of two inspiring, independent Boricua musicians, Lizbeth Román and Mila. Latin rhythms, trova, and poetry.

In addition to the March 10th performance by Mila [link to blog] directly from the Puerto Rico, IBA will host a performance by Lizbeth Román. An outstanding Puerto Rican artist, Lizbeth is known for her unique form of storytelling which majestically combines music and theatrical performance. Her music is infused with the melodies and rhythms of blues, bossa nova, trova, and rumba, among others, and combined with Caribbean folklore and the poetry of everyday life.

Her first production, La Otra Ruta: Live at New York, was recorded live in 2016 and released in 2017. Lizbeth Román has performed at festivals in New York (Loisaida Fest), Philadelphia, Cuba (Caribbean Festival), Austin, Texas (SXSW,South By South West), and Los Angeles, among others. She has also performed in the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico with her independent tour, La Otra Ruta.

She is currently studying issues of death and liberation in its many forms, as well as accompaniment and different techniques of energetic, emotional, physical, ancestral and spiritual healing. She is in a period of discovery, in which she attends workshops and does sound research to implement in her upcoming pieces. Besides her passion for music, she also writes short stories that she plans to publish in the future.

One of the ways IBA gives back to the community is by organizing art events for everyone, such as these high-quality performances. Please consider supporting our Arts Development Program HERE, and help us keep providing culture and entertainment to our community.
