VILLA VICTORIA IS PARADISE FOR ME

VILLA VICTORIA IS PARADISE FOR ME

Our Resident Services Program was created more than 50 years ago with the goal of helping people, not only with housing, but also assisting them with other challenges such as language translation, legal advocacy, and securing access to fresh food and health services.

Don Hector Ruíz is one of the many residents of Villa Victoria and he kindly opened the doors of his home to chat with us about what it is like to live in this community.

Not only did we have a wonderful time chatting, but Don Héctor also shared a poem by Juan Pedro López that we know you will enjoy as much as we did.

How long have you been a resident here in Villa Victoria and what do you like the most about living here?

I’ve lived here since 1998. Villa Victoria is paradise to me, and it is the best community I could have ever found. I have received a lot of help from IBA and I am very grateful for it.

Have you had the opportunity to use some of the services that Resident Services offers? Are you happy with the help you have received?

Yes, very happy and very grateful. They were the ones who helped me at the beginning with a lot of paperwork and helped me get my birth certificate from Puerto Rico among many other things. There have been many people who have helped me here throughout the years.

Would you recommend the Resident Services Program to other residents here at Villa Victoria?

Yes of course, to everyone. Thanks to all who have helped us, Villa Victoria is my paradise, and I am not leaving.

Don Héctor, someone told us that you like to recite poetry, is that true? Would you be ready to share something with us?

Of course, my memory is not the same as in 1998, but there is still something left:
