Festival Betances is back, and this year, we're feeling the milestone. Join us at Plaza Betances on Saturday, July 18th starting at 12:30 PM as we celebrate Boricua Legacy: Shaping America's Story at New England's longest-running Latino cultural festival. 

Come for the parade and the food, stay for the music, the art, the kids running through inflatables, and the feeling you only get when your whole community is in one place.

 

What is Festival Betances?
 

For more than 50 years, Festival Betances has been a cornerstone of Boston's Latinx community, drawing 3,000+ people each summer from across New England and beyond. The festival's stage has hosted everyone from local emerging acts to international icons like Larry Harlow of Fania All Stars, Tony Vega, and Tito Rojas, a living testament to the richness and range of Latinx music.

The festival takes its name from Ramón Emeterio Betances, doctor, abolitionist, and one of the great Puerto Rican intellectuals of the 19th century. His work shaped Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. This year's theme, Boricua Legacy: Shaping America's Story, honors exactly that spirit: the idea that Puerto Rican culture doesn't just participate in American history, it helps write it.

This summer, Boricua Legacy sounds like this:

Liberty Vibes Salsa Ensemble, a New York-based Army ensemble bringing high-energy salsa rooted in the legacy of Rafael Hernández and the Harlem Hellfighters.

Fabián Torres, Puerto Rican salsa singer, Objetivo Fama winner, and Latin Boston's Salsa Artist of the Year. Now calling Massachusetts home.

Brenda K. Starr, Pop, freestyle, salsa legend. Decades of hits, one unforgettable voice.

And we close with headliner Luisito Ayala y la Puerto Rican Power, one of the most iconic salsa bands in the world and a true cornerstone of Puerto Rican music.
