La CASA: The Center for the Arts, Self-determination and Activism

Centrally located in the South End within IBA’s Villa Victoria, La CASA: the Center for the Arts, Self-determination and Activism, is an inclusive, welcoming space for residents, artists, neighbors and the public to gather, create, and celebrate.

Rooted in community and culture, the building brings together past and present—blending brick and terra cotta that reflect the richness of Latin Caribbean heritage with the character of Boston’s 19th-century architecture. Expansive glass elements invite in light and signal openness, accessibility, and connection.

At the heart of La CASA is a vibrant main performance space, The Jean and Tom Yawkey Hall: an open, two-story room that hosts performances, exhibitions, community gatherings, and meetings. A large bi-fold glass door connects Yawkey Hall directly to the adjacent O’Day Playground and amphitheater, allowing indoor and outdoor programming to flow together and expand for larger events.

La CASA is a living, active hub—shaped by the people who use it and the culture it uplifts.
