IBA, the Point32Health Foundation is donating over $60,000 for relief efforts in Puerto Rico

Not yet recovered from Hurricane Maria five years ago nearly to the day, Puerto Rico again suffered devastating flooding and widespread destruction. Hurricane Fiona cut off access to clean water, knocked out power and displaced thousands of residents. In collaboration with IBA, the Point32Health Foundation is donating over $60,000 for relief efforts in Puerto Rico. The funds will be distributed by IBA to these 6 nonprofits providing critical relief services: Taller Salud , Brigada Solidaria del Oeste, Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico , Comedores Sociales de Puerto Here are more details about the organizations receiving funding and their important work.

Taller Salud, founded in 1979, is a community-based, feminist organization dedicated to improving women's access to health care, to reducing violence within the community, and to encouraging economic growth through education and activism.

Brigada Solidaria del Oeste is a mutual aid organization that was created after Hurricane Maria to deliver whatever on-the-ground aid might be needed in an emergency. The organization also helps with everything from clearing debris to distributing water filters. They are dedicated to improving their community through mutual aid, fostering art, and activism.

Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico is a non-profit organization that educates and helps promote accessible legal access for the community, an especially important service following a hurricane as residents navigate access to insurance and recovery funds.

Comedores Sociales de Puerto Rico is a non-profit organization that seeks to eradicate hunger in Puerto Rico through strategies of collective work and socialization of resources for all, as well as champion recovery projects and strategies that have the potential to generate long-term changes.

Waves Ahead is a community health center providing mental health services for LGBT+ individuals and those in the general populations who may need support, including those who experience homelessness, female heads of households, seniors, and others.

Para la Naturaleza is a non-profit that seeks a sustainable future for Puerto Rico's ecology's system. The organization has focused on supporting affected communities and supporting agroecological practices. The organization assists to conserve land of high ecological value. They also promote and facilitate transformative experiences in nature for the community.
